Welcome,
I’m so grateful you found me here.
I am a mother of two, lifelong learner, educator, and author of When Your Heart Speaks. My journey as a teacher, singer, and creative has shown me just how powerful it is when children find the courage to share their voice. I believe every young person holds a unique story worth telling, and my work is all about helping them uncover that truth with confidence, joy, and heart.
Did you know that we’re all born with the same inherent gift?
That gift is our inner voice — our intuition. When Your Heart Speaks is a children’s book that helps young readers recognize and trust this powerful guide within themselves.
Often called a gut feeling, the butterflies in your stomach, or even goosebumps, intuition is the heart’s way of speaking. It can show up as a gentle whisper or an insistent call that won’t be ignored.
Through this story, children are encouraged to listen to their inner voice, understand what it’s saying, and use it with courage — whether to make choices, stand up for themselves, or advocate for what truly matters.
Our preschool class had the privilege of welcoming Louisa to share her story with us. She engaged the children beautifully, explaining the story in a clear and meaningful way they could easily follow. She made the experience interactive with lively expressions, songs and Montessori tools which encouraged participation, thus allowing the children to make personal connections with the story and express their own ideas. It was an inspiring experience that enriched our classroom learning and reinforced the values of kindness, compassion, and courage that we uphold in our centre.

About the book
Every child has a voice inside them — a gentle whisper of courage, kindness, and truth. When Your Heart Speaks is a beautifully written and illustrated children’s book that invites young readers to pause, listen, and trust the wisdom within.
Drawing on her background as a teacher and singer, Louisa weaves rhythm and lyrical storytelling into every page, creating a story that not only entertains but also nurtures confidence, resilience, and self-love.
Perfect for bedtime reading, classroom sharing, or heartfelt conversations at home, When Your Heart Speaks reminds children (and the adults who love them) that their inner voice matters — and that following it can lead to a life filled with joy, creativity, and courage.
A book for families, teachers, and anyone who believes in the power of listening to the heart.
This book is so refreshing! It helps kids understand themselves and their emotions like compassion, empathy and self-love. It tells a story about following your gut instinct, all with a really fun rhyme within the book. It’s easy enough for kids ages 2-12 to connect to. I highly recommend it as it makes a great gift for a special kid or mentee in your life.

My Commitment
Community has always been at the heart of my work. For several years, I taught Leadership and Peer Support courses before becoming the Indigenous Equity Lead at my school. In that role, I founded Indspired, an educational awareness club that created space for students to learn, listen, and build meaningful connections with Indigenous groups.
Together, we partnered with organizations like Moon Time Connections, raising awareness, raising funds and gathering menstrual products to support Northern communities. For me, this work has always been about equity, relationship, and care — walking alongside others and creating opportunities for students to experience the power of giving and connection.
As an author, I carry these same values forward. I believe every child, every family, and every community thrives when we honour each voice, nurture compassion, and create space for understanding.
This book is very precious to my daughter and I. It’s not a simple children’s book; rather, it contains profound life lessons on how to be. The illustrations are magical, yes, but the truths in Louisa’s words ground us into the life we should and can live. I think this book is sacred for all ages.

Let ‘s be friends
This delightful children’s book, written by a talented author, is a fantastic addition to our toddler’s bedtime routine. Our little one has quickly grown to love it, and we’ve noticed that she expresses herself more confidently and joyfully each time we read it. She’s also building her vocabulary and sight words. It’s a beautifully written, heartfelt and charming story that makes bedtime both fun and meaningful!
